What it asks
From the transcript write questions that can only be answered by having heard the clip: a detail, a number, a name, the speaker’s point; the wrong options are what someone who half heard it would pick. Every question answerable from the transcript.

About this kit.
Paste the transcript of your clip and add the clip’s address to each question in the builder: it plays once, then the student picks the answer from the options. For languages, lectures and podcasts.
What the languages kits are
Vocabulary from and into the language, grammar in gaps, listening to a clip once, reading a passage, translating a sentence, and dictation. The kits cover the languages most learned and any language from your own materials.
Why they are built this way
A language is four skills, and a written multiple-choice test measures one of them badly. The kits use the shapes each skill needs: production for vocabulary (type it, do not pick it), gaps for grammar in context, a clip that plays once for listening, a recording for speaking. That is how a class tests a language, and now a self-learner can too.
How to use them
Start with the vocabulary kit both ways; move to gaps and translation; add listening once you can hold a sentence. Paste your own coursebook chapter for questions in its vocabulary. Set spelling tolerance for the early stages and remove it later.
Written from your material
This kit is a recipe: the shape, the number of questions, the sections and the instructions Procto AI follows. Paste your own material and the questions are written from it, each with the passage its answer came from. Procto AI is asked to keep to your material, and each key is yours to check; every question is yours to edit before anyone sees it.
The shape: listen once
A clip that plays one time only tests real listening: no rewinding, no pausing, nothing to paste anywhere. It is one of the shapes that defeat a chatbot outright.
A chosen answer is marked by rule at once, and so is a dictation, against the accepted list. The typed answer of listen and answer, a caption and an identified source are open answers: each waits for you to grade against your model answer and rubric, or for Procto AI when you ask it on that answer. The clip's address is stored with the question; the play-once rule is held on the student's screen by a player of one button and a line that fills, with no pause and no going back.
Taking it
Open it in study mode for the answer and the explanation after each question, and a retry of only what you missed. Switch to exam mode for the real conditions. It comes due again in a few days; the dashboard shows what is due and what you missed last time. Share it with a code for a class, print it as a paper, or host it on a screen for a room.
Questions.
- What is in the Listening: a clip that plays once kit?
- Paste the transcript of your clip and add the clip’s address to each question in the builder: it plays once, then the student picks the answer from the options. For languages, lectures and podcasts. It writes 10 questions from the material you paste, in the Listen once shape, and is asked to keep each to it.
- Does it cost anything?
- A free account opens every kit. Procto AI’s writing runs on a monthly allowance that the free plan includes; a children’s kit uses none of it, because its questions are made by rule.
- What happens after the quiz?
- The study screen shows the answer and the explanation after each question, then the questions missed, and offers a retry of those. Come back in a few days and take it again: what is still right then is what is known.
