What it asks

Write questions on what the text says, what it implies, what the writer is doing and why, and the meaning of a word in its context; quote the evidence in the explanation. Application and analysis, at the level of an examined course; the explanation gives the reasoning. Every question answerable from the material.

About this kit.

From any text: literal questions, inference, the writer’s purpose, a word in context, and the evidence for a claim.

What the english and literature kits are

Reading comprehension with evidence highlighted, grammar and punctuation, vocabulary in context, spelling made fresh by rule, poems read closely, texts analysed, and writing tasks marked against a rubric. From early reading to A-level and college English.

Why they are built this way

English is read closely and written well, and the shapes here are the ones examiners use: highlight the evidence, fill the gap with the right form, define in your own words, summarise in a set number of words, write to a rubric. The spelling and vocabulary kits are made by rule so practice is endless.

How to use them

For younger students, the spelling and grammar rule kits daily. For exam classes, the passage kits in the exam's own style. For writing, use the open-answer shapes with a rubric, and let Procto AI mark against it with the teacher releasing.

Written from your material

This kit is a recipe: the shape, the number of questions, the sections and the instructions Procto AI follows. Paste your own material and the questions are written from it, each with the passage its answer came from. Procto AI is asked to keep to your material, and each key is yours to check; every question is yours to edit before anyone sees it.

The shape: multiple choice

The workhorse of assessment: one right answer among plausible options, marked at once, comparable across every student. Written well, the wrong options map the misconceptions in the room.

EdProcto marks selection questions by rule the moment the answer is given. Several-answer shapes give credit for the part that is right when partial credit is on; negative marking takes one over the number of wrong options, so guessing earns nothing on average; a confidence rating earns a bonus when sure and right and a larger penalty when sure and wrong, so it pays only when it is honest. Options can be shuffled per student, and the analysis shows which wrong option beat the right one.

Taking it

Open it in study mode for the answer and the explanation after each question, and a retry of only what you missed. Switch to exam mode for the real conditions. It comes due again in a few days; the dashboard shows what is due and what you missed last time. Share it with a code for a class, print it as a paper, or host it on a screen for a room.

Questions.

What is in the Reading comprehension (upper secondary) kit?
From any text: literal questions, inference, the writer’s purpose, a word in context, and the evidence for a claim. It writes 10 questions from the material you paste, in the Multiple choice shape, and is asked to keep each to it.
Does it cost anything?
A free account opens every kit. Procto AI’s writing runs on a monthly allowance that the free plan includes; a children’s kit uses none of it, because its questions are made by rule.
What happens after the quiz?
The study screen shows the answer and the explanation after each question, then the questions missed, and offers a retry of those. Come back in a few days and take it again: what is still right then is what is known.
