About spell it.
Why this shape
Letter tiles dragged to spell a word: spelling and phonics with the hands.
An example. Spell the word for the picture.
What it is
Shapes for young learners are built for small hands and early readers: big buttons, pictures as options, a spoken prompt with pictures to choose from, counting objects, letters dragged to spell a word, a path traced, a pattern continued.
Why it is needed
A child who cannot yet read a stem or type an answer still knows things, and a quiz that cannot reach them measures nothing. Large targets, pictures and sound make the question about the knowledge and not about the interface, and a parent or a teacher sees what the child knows.
When to use it
Use them from the early years through the first years of school: counting, shapes, sounds, first words, matching, patterns. Use the rule-made kits so the same drill is fresh each day.
How to write one well
One idea per question. Big, clear pictures. A spoken prompt where reading is not the point. Short quizzes, immediate feedback, no time pressure unless the drill is about speed.
For spell it in particular. List the spelling to build first: its letters become the tiles, with one extra so the last letter is not free.
Mistakes to avoid
Small targets. Text a child cannot read yet. Distractors that are visually confusing rather than conceptually wrong. Long quizzes.
How EdProcto marks it
Marked by rule at once, with the answer and a plain explanation shown straight away in study mode, so the child learns from the miss. A traced path is the one shape here that waits for you to grade. The parent's dashboard shows what was right, what was missed and what to try again.
Questions.
- How does a student answer a spell it question?
- A word built from letter tiles. Letter tiles dragged to spell a word.
- How is spell it marked?
- By rule, the moment the answer is given: the mark needs no reader.
- Can Procto AI write spell it questions?
- Yes: from a chapter, notes or a handout, in this shape, at the level of thinking you set, written from your material only if you say so.
